A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF A NEW
FOUR COUNTY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, Benton County, Carroll County, Madison County and
Washington County are part of a nine county solid waste management
district; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Act 752 of 1991 (Ark. Code Ann. 8-6-707)
the Department of Pollution Control and Ecology may designate new
regional solid waste management districts upon request and notice
to the current regional board; and
WHEREAS, it is desirous and in the best interest of the
citizens of all four counties that a smaller district be formed;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville is desirous that Washington
County join in the petition to create the smaller district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City of Fayetteville encourages the solid
waste management board members representing Washington County to
petition the Department of Pollution Control and Ecology to
designate a new solid waste management district composed of Benton
County, Carroll County, Madison County and Washington County.
