HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-90 RESOLUTION• RESOLUTION NO_ 90-40 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO A VEGETATION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement with the University of Arkansas for vegetation management to provide a study and maintenance regarding management of roadside vegetation in Fayetteville. A copy of the agreement authorized for execution hereby is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof. Section 2. That there shall be a moratorium on the use of herbicides or pesticides in such agreement until a public hearing is held to discuss such use and further action of this Board. Mayor • • MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AND City of Fayetteville Arkansas The Agricultural Development Council of the University of Arkansas and City f Fayetteville are mutually interested in research and development relating to agriculture. To advance such research and development, the City of F=yetteville agrees to make available to the Council for use by the Agronomy Department, Weed Science Group. a unit of the Agricultural Experiment Station, a grant-in-aid in the amount of 517.030 for the period extending from January 1, 1990 to December 31, 1990. The Council agrees to accept the funds and use them for the support of research and development in the general field of Roadside and Park Vegetation Maintenance, with the stipulation that chemical pesticides and chemical herbicides will not be used under this agreement, until a public workshop has been conducted, and the use of chemical pesticides and/or chemical herbicides approved by the City of Fayetteville. The Council further agrees to furnish City of Fayetteville. Department of Streets and Department of Parks and Recreation annual progress reports. The City of Fayetteville agrees to obtain the council's consent prior to publication of any research data or using the data in any advertising. The Council agrees to acknowledge the cooperation and assistance rendered by City of Fayetteville in any publication resulting from the joint effort.
