A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE ARKANSAS
STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION AUTHORIZE THE
INSTALLATION OF INFORMATIONAL LOGO SIGNS (OF
THE TYPE CURRENTLY UStu IN THE INTERSTATE
HIGHWAY SYSTEM :N ARKANSAS) IN THE C.S.

OF rAYETTEv:LLE.
WHEREAS, rhe Fayetteville Boa::d of Directors believes that
the installation of the infornationat logo signs will help to
promote economic development, reduce visual clutter of signage,
promote traffic safety, and help preserve the scenic natural
beauty of the L.S. Highway Bypass cor::idor in Fayetteville; and
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Board of Directors believes that
the installation of informational logo signs within the right-of-
way of the U.S. Highway 71 Bypass is a viable and preferred
alternative to granting appeals from .he City's Sign Ordinance by
the Board of Sign Appeals; and
WHEREAS, :he Fayetteville Board of Directors notes ane]
supports the attached resolutions in support of the installation
.1f the ir.:ormat'onai logo signs which have beer. passed by the
Favet.teville Planning Commission and the Board of Sign Appeals.
NOW, THEREFORE., RE IT RESOLVED) AY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYF,TTEVrLLF., ARKANSAS:
Section :. The Board of Directors hereby request that the
Arkansas State Highway Commission au:horize the installation of
informational logo signs at appropriate locations within the U.S.
Highway 71 Bypass right-of-way in the City of Fayetteville.

A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE INSTALLATION OF
INFORMATIONAL LOGO SIGNS (OF THE TYPE CURRENTLY USED IN THE
INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM IN ARKANSAS] IN THE U.S. HIGHWAY
71 BYPASS RIGHT-OF-WAY.
Whereas. the City of Fayetteville City Planning Commission is charged with the
responsibility of considering issues such as long-range urban planning and community
appearance: and
Whereas, the City Planning Commission believes that the installation of informational
logo signs (as described above) within the right-of-way of the U.S. Highway 71 Bypass
is a viable and preferred alternative to granting appeals from the City's Sign Ordinance
by the Board of sign Appeals: and
Whereas. the City Planning Commission believes that the installation of informational
logo signs will help to promote economic development. reduce visual clutter of signage.
promote traffic safety. and help preserve the scenic natural beauty of the U.S. Highway
Bypass corridor in Fayetteville:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED. that the City Planning Commission formally
supports the installation of informational logo signs at appropriate locations within
the U.S. Highway 71 Bypass right-of-way.
