IN THE AMOUNT OF $16,354.12 FOR ONE (1) FOUR WHEEL DRIVE PICK-UP WITH SNOW PLOW. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the Board of Directors hereby award Bid x/98-59 to Jones Olds -GMC -Buick. Inc. in the amount of $16,354.12 for one (1) four wheel drive nick up with snow plow. A copy of the contract authorized for execution hereby is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof. Linebaugh, Assistant City Manager Kevin D. Crosson, Assist. Admin. Services Director %f The staff recommends award of Drive Pick-up Truck with Snow 3535 N. College, Fayetteville, the lowest bidder meeting the Bid #89-59 for one (1) Four Wheel Plow to Jones Olds -GMC -Buick Inc., AR 72703, Vendor #21530. They were necessary specification range. There were exceptions to the bid specifications as presented by the bidder. After consideration of option combinations offered by the manufacturer, variances in engine C.I.D. and H.P., and rear axle ratio, it was decided and agreed upon to accept the unit as presented by the bidder. The options as requested have been included as items to improve operator safety and vehicle efficiency. As an additional deciding factor, they should tend to improve resale value of a vehicle of this type. The inclusion of these specific options when weighing the initial cost against projected benefits, prove to be the best economical choice. The lowest bidder, Lewis Ford, of Fayetteville, Ar., per tabulation sheet, did not meet specifications. The vehicle they bid had a GVW of 4640 making it too small for our intended use. The total amount of the bid is $15,975.00 for the combination pick- up truck with snow plow as specified, plus tax on the plow of $111.00, (Motor vehicle not taxable to municipalities) inclusion of a non -bid item (lock type rear differential) will add an additional $215.00, giving a net cost of $16,301.00 In addition to item 1, it will also be necessary to procure a Parts and Service Manual, item 2, @ $52.00 plus tax of $2.12, which gives a total cost of $16,355.12. Budgeted amount of $17,500.00 is from Capitol Expenditures Program, Vehicles and Equipment. 970-192-5-802.00. Therefore, a surplus amount of $1,145.88 will be available for future use. Safety and efficiency considerations were a deciding factor for the functional items included in the Specifications and recommended • • • • • • • award.
