A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENTION OF THE
FAYETTEVILLE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO USE THE
EXISTING CITY MAINTENANCE BUILDING IN THE
FAYETTEVILLE INDUSTRIAL. PARK FOR ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS, the electors of Fayetteville approved the levy of a
lit sales and use tax for a period of twenty (20) years at the
general election in November, 1988; and
WHEREAS, the proceeds from said sales tax are intended to
provide many public improvements including a new city maintenance
facility.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. If a new city maintenance facility is
constructed, and the existing maintenance building in the
Fayetteville Industrial Park is vacated, the Fayetteville Board of
Directors hereby expresses its intention to dedicate the use of
said existing maintenance building for economic development of the
City as follows:
(a) Job training programs conducted by the Arkansas
Department of Education, Arkansas Industrial Development
Commission, and other public agencies;
(b) First phase of residence for manufacturing
graduates of the University of Arkansas Genesis
Incubator Program;
(c) Small business start up space; and,
(d) Temporary manufacturing space while permanent
manufacturing facilities are being constructed.
Section 2. The proposed economic development training
center shall be operated on a non-profit basis.
