NO. 103-86- A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE NOMINATION OF THE LEWIS BROTHERS HARDWARE STORE BUILDING TO THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. 1 WHEREAS, the State Review Board of Arkansas Historic Preservation Program has approved the nomination of the Lewis Brothers Hardware Store of Fayetteville, Arkansas to the National Register of Historic Places; and ,WHEREAS, said nomination will be forwarded to the;National Register Office in Washington, D. C. and evaluated by said office's professional staff; and WHEREAS, the Lewis Brothers Hardware Store building represents a historical architectural treasure for the City due to its location on the Fayetteville Square for approximately 80 years; and WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Board of Directors has determined that preservation of historical architectural edifices preserves the City's culture and heritage; and WHEREAS, the Lewis Brothers Hardware Store building has been identified as the main branch for the Bank of Fayetteville, N. A., a new banking association recently chartered by the Comptroller of the Currency; and WHEREAS, in conjunction withrenovation, adaptive reuse, restoration, and rehabilitation of the Lewis Brothers Hardware Store building, the developer has indicated a desire to seek investment tax credits by seeking approval of the National Park's Service of the Department of Interior; and WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Board of Directors has determined that the renovation, restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse plans for the Lewis Brothers Hardware Store building are in the best interest of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRDCIORS OF THE CITY OF FAYE7.TEVIL E, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the Board of Directors whole heartedly endorses the application for nomination of the Lewis Brothers Hardware Store building in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas to the National Register of Historic Places and certification by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, the National Park's Service, and the Department of Interior of the United States of America for preservation of said structure under the proposed plans for restoration, adaptive reuse, renovation and rehabilitation of said structure by the Bank of Fayetteville, N.
