HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-84 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION. NO. 92-84 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CABLE TELEVISION LEGISLATION PROPOSED IN H. R. 4103. WHEREAS, H. R. 4103 reflects a fair and balanced approach to national cable policy which provides protections for the interests of cities, consumers, and cable operators; and WHEREAS, the establishment of national cable policy should be the responsibility of Congress, and not the responsibility of the courts or the Federal Communications Commission; and WHEREAS, enactment of H. R. 4103 is necessary to establish a stable regulatory framework under which the rights of cities and cable operators are clearly defined; and WHEREAS, enactment of H. R. 4103 is necessary to ensure that existing cable television franchises are enforceable and is necessary to eliminate burdensom litigation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That the Board of Directors strongly urges the United States Congress to enact H. R. 4103.
