1984 Pay Plan
All classified employees shall be paid in accordance with the pay plan. All
classified positions are assigned a pay scale based on the job duties and
responsibilities and the degree of difficulty required for performance of the
Job duties.
Starting Pay and Pay Increases Within Scale
The beginning rate of pay for any new inexperienced employee of the City will
be at the entry level. New employees with experience may start above entry
level at the discretion of the Department Head and the City Manager. After
a six month probationary period, the employee will be eligible to move to the
"six month level." Fire and Police personnel are eligible for the same six month
probationary raise according to the pay plan as other classified positions even
though their actual probationary period is twelve months according to the
Personnel Policy. A six month raise is given only when the Department Head
feels the employee has satisfactorily completed the six month probationary period.
When an employee reaches the maximum level, he/she .will only be eligible for
a "cost of living" raise that might be approved by the Board of Directors. Approval
or disapproval of any step increase or cost of living increase will be at the
Department Head's discretion and shall be based strictly on the employee's
performance on the job.
Promotions
In order to be considered for a promotion within the same department or to another
department, an employee must first meet the minimum entry level qualifications
contained in the job description. No employee will be eligible for consideration
for promotion until reasonable probationary period has been served, and all
provisions of the Personnel Policy regarding promotions shall apply.
Fire personnel work a regular week of fifty-six hours. Fire Department personnel
(except unclassified personnel) receive seven dollars ($7.no) per call back, when
off-duty and responding to minor alarms and ten ($10 00) dollars per call back,
when off-duty and responding to major alarms.
The monthly rates shown for classified uniformed police and fire personnel include
extra holiday pay as provided by Arkansas Statutes 69-101, 69-104 and 19-1713
as amended. Such holiday pay is included in the monthly salaries and pro -rated
throughout the year. The appropriations made in the 1984 budget include additional
pay for holidays for all agents, servants and employees of the City of Fayetteville,
including but not limited to uniform employees, as provided by the laws of the
State of Arkansas.
