HomeMy WebLinkAbout49-84 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO. 49-84 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION TO AMEND THE COMMISSION'S "MUST CARRY" REGULATION. WHEREAS, Federal Communication Commission regulations require a cable television operator to carry a "significantly viewed" signal upon request of the television station pro- ducing said signal; and WHEREAS, the Commission's "muSt carry" regulation results in network duplication; and WHEREAS, many communities have access to only a small number of cable television channels; and WHEREAS, the network duplication caused by the Commission's "must carry" regulation deprives such communities of access to many television programs and services which would otherwise be available. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That the Board of Directors hereby requests the Federal Communications Commission to amend the Commission's "must carry" regulation to insure that communities with access to cmly a small number of cable television channels are not deprived of available television programs and services.
