A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE WHOLESALE POWER RATE
CHANGE APPLICATION FILED BY ARKANSAS ELECTRIC
COOPERATIVE CORPORATION. IN ARKANSAS PUBLIC SERVICE
COMMISSION DOCKET NO. 83-023-U.
WHEREAS, Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation has
filed an application with the Arkansas Public Service Commission
for changes in the wholesale power\rates said corporation
charges its members; and -
WHEREAS, Beaver Water"District is a member of Arkansas
Electric Cooperative Corporation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville is a member of
Beaver Water District; and
WHEREAS, the wholesale power rates charged to Beaver
Water District by Arkansas Electric Cooperative_Corporation
directly affect the water rates charged to the City of
Fayetteville by Beaver Water District; and
WHEREAS, approval of the rate change application=filed
by Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation in Arkansas
Public Service Commission docket No. 83-023-U would:sub-
stantially increase the electricity costs of Beaver Water
District and would necessitate an increase in water rates
charged by Beaver Water District to the City of Fayetteville
and other members of Beaver Water District; and
WHEREAS, Beaver Water District has been able to minimize
its electricity costs by efficient management; and
WHEREAS, the rate change application filed by Arkansas
Electric Cooperative Corporation in Docket No. 83-023-U
would, if approved, eliminate the possibility of Beaver
Water District minimizing its electricity costs by present
management techniques.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITRESOLVEDBY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the Board of Directors hereby opposes the wholesale
power rate application submitted by Arkansas Electric Coopera-
tive. Corporation in Arkansas Public Service Commission Docket
No. 83-023-U and hereby urges the Arkansas Public Service
Commission t� disapprove said application.
