HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-84 RESOLUTIONeagaip#Pallt,.. ge, RESOLUTION N,O!�' 14-84 c:; RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF' FOUR YEAR TERM AMENDMENT r WHEREAS, the overall social and economic conditions of the State of Arkansas would be enhanced if Arkansas state executive officers were elected to serve four year terms in office; WHEREAS, the members of would be better served if Arkansas state executive officers were elected to serve four year terms of office; and WHEREAS, the Committee 4 Arkansas has begun an initiative petition drive for an amendment to the Arkansas State Constitution to provide for four year terms for state executive officers, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the Fayetteville City Board of Directors hereby endorses and shall support the amendment for four year terms proposed by the Committee 4 Arkansas. Such Amendment shall read as follows: Section 1. The Executive Department of this State shall consist of a Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer of State, Auditor of State, Attorney General and Commissioner of State Lands, all of whom shall keep their offices at the seat of government, and hold their offices for the term of four (4) years, and until their suc- cessors are elected and qualified. Section 2. This Amendment shall take effect and be in operation on January 1, 1987, and the provisions of this Amendment shall be applicable to those officers elected at the 1986 General Election and thereafter. Section 3.
