A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING TO THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS THE SUPPORT
OF THE FAYETTEVILLE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE SOLID
WASTE DISPOSAL AND RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY PROJECT
PROPOSED BY THE NORTHWEST ARKANSAS RESOURCE RECOVERY
AUTHORITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville is a member of the
Northwest Arkansas Resource Recovery Authority; and
WHEREAS, said Authority has been organized to provide
for the construction and operation of a solid waste disposal
and resource recovery facility to be located in the City of
Fayetteville; and
WHEREAS, said facility will dispose of solid waste
generated by the City of Fayetteville, the City of West
Fork, the City of Johnson, Washington County, and the Univer-
sity of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS the Authority proposes to sell steam generated
by said facility to the University of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, by purchasing steam from the Authority the
University will save thousands of dollars; and
WHEREAS, by selling steam to the University, the
Authority will be able to maintain reasonable tipping fees
for the disposal of solid waste at said facility; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors is of the opinion that
the present proposal of the Northwest Arkansas Resource
Recovery Authority is mutually advantageous to all parties
involved and should not be modified with regard to profit
sharing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the Board of Directors hereby fully supports the
present proposal of the Northwest Arkansas Resource Recovery
Authority for the construction and operation of a solid
waste disposal and resource recovery facility and hereby,
opposes any modification in the profit sharing aspect of
said proposal.-
