HomeMy WebLinkAbout126-84 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTiaN NO. 126-84 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW COUNTY JAIL APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF BLOCK NORTH OF THE WASHINGTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE. WHEREAS, the existing Washington County jail is not adequate in size and does not conform to the minimum standards promulgated by the Arkansas Criminal Detention Facilities Board; and WHEREAS, the Washington County Quorum Court proposes to construct a new 60 -bed jail approximately one-half block north of the Washington County Courthouse; and WHEREAS, the Quorum Court proposes to finance construction of said new jail frau county sales tax proceeds and court fees without the imposition of any additional taxes; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has determined that the Quorum Court's proposal is in the best interest of the citizens of Fayetteville and Washington County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That the Board of Directors hereby strongly supports the proposal of the Washington County Quorum Court to construct a new 60 -bed jail approximately one-half block north of the Washington County Court House and to finance construction of said jail frau county sales tax proceeds and court fees without the imposition of any additional taxes. PASSED AND APPROVED this 30th day of October 1984.
