A RESOLUTION CALLING ON THE U.S., U.S.S.R., AND ALL
OTHER NATIONS TO FREEZE PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF
NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND TO MUTUALLY REDUCE THE SUPPLY OF
NUCLEAR WEAPONS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the Board of Directors hereby joins
with the governing bodies of other cities and with the
several state legislatures that have endorsed the call upon
the U.S., U.S.S.R., and all other nations to stop the nuclear
arms race as a move to improve national and international
security.
Specifically, the Board of Directors asks the United
States, the Soviet Union, and all other nations to adopt an
immediate, mutual freeze on all further testing, production,
and deployment of nuclear weapons, to mutually reduce the
supply of nuclear weapons, and to implement inspection
procedures to verify compliance.
The Board of Directors believes a mutual freeze and
production of nuclear weapons followed by a mutual reduction
in the supply of nuclear weapons to be an essential verifiable
first step toward lessening the risk of nuclear war.

of the House of Representatives; Armed Services Committees;
