HomeMy WebLinkAbout43-80 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO. 4342_ A'RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE POLICY OF THE FAYETTEVILLE BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGARDING THE CONSERVATION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. WHEREAS, trees and other plant life are beneficial public resources; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville provides many services essential to the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Board of Directors is committed to a goal of preserving the existing environment in providing said services; and WHEREAS, trees and other plant life promote the public welfare by: (a) controlling erosion and dust pollution, (6) reducing glare from artificial and natural illumination, (c) decreasing the adverse effects of strong winds, 01 lessening air pollution, CO_ buffering visually between non -compatible land uses, (f) promoting energy conservation through the shading of buildings, (g) lowering noise pollution, (h) cooling walks and streets through shading and evaporation, (i), enhancing property values by promoting otherwise adverse economic development, and (.11 promoting the scenic beauty, character and value of the City and thereby enhancing the economic • benefits derived from tourism; and WHEREAS, the City Board is committed to encouraging the conservation of existing landscaping, as well as the establishment of additional natural materials, insofar as possible, in all City policies and operations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That the Board of Directors shall implement and execute the aforesaid statements and policies in all future municipal development and shall encourage private developers to do the same in the planning stages of development projects.
