Dear Mr. McBride:

June 8, 1979
I am enclosing a copy of a resolution which was adopted by the Fayette-
ville City Board of Directors at a regular meeting held on June 5, 1979,
concerning the need for an approach surveillance radar system at the
Fayetteville Municipal Airport. As expressed in the resolution, we feel
there are severe safety problems in the area of Drake Field and we urgently
request the installation of a radar system so that we might minimize the
possibility for aircraft related accidents. We have been told of several
near -misses in this area in recent weeks and we feel it is our responsibility
as public officials to call this to your attention and request the necessary
equipment to minimize the possibilities for serious accidents.
It will be sincerely appreciated if you will route copies of my letter
and the attached resolution to the proper F.A.A. authorities so this matter
can receive prompt attention. Please feel free to contact me if you have
any questions. Thank you.
