A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE TO CONSIDER THE VARIOUS EFFECTS PASSAGE OF
AMENDMENT 59 WILL HAVE IN DETERMINING HOW TO VOTE ON THAT
AMENDMENT.
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville City Government currently
receives over One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) per year
in municipal turn -back funds from the State of Arkansas;
and
WHEREAS, said revenue is very important in providing
public services for the citizens of Fayetteville; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for additional revenue for the
City to provide basic people services such as police protection,
fire protection, health and sanitation services, street and
drainage improvements, and parks and recreation facilities for
the citizens of Fayetteville; and
WHEREAS, Amendment 59 makes no provision for replacing the
revenues which would be lost should said amendment be adopted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the Board of Directors hereby encourages the
voters of the City of Fayetteville to take the above factors
into account in deciding how to vote on the passage of Amendment
59 to the Arkansas Constitution.
