BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That the Pay Classification and Compensation Plan, marked Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof be, and the same is hereby, approved and adopted for fiscal year 1977. MAYOR ATTEST: CITY CLERK • • CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS 1977 PAY PLAN Adopted December 21, 1976 All classified employees shall be paid in accordance with the pay plan, which is a series of salary increments including eight merit steps for each range. Each classified position is assigned a pay scale based upon job duties and responsibilities and the relative degree of difficulty required for satis- factory performance of job duties. Each step represents an annual merit increment except step "B" which is a six-month anniversary step. Starting Pay and Pay Increases Within Class Employees shall be hired at $10.00 below the "A" step of the pay scale assigned to their position. Upon satisfactory completion of the initial four months, employees may be advanced to the "A" step. After completion of the second four month period, employees may be advanced to $10.00 above the "A" step. All such pay advancements shall be conditioned upon the recommendation of the department head and approval of the City Manager or his designated representative. Effective on January 1, 1977, classified and unclassified employees salaries shall be increased by 10% of the monthly salary in effect at December 31, 1976; such pay increase being a pay adjustment. Upon recommendation of the department head and approval of the City Manager or his designated representative, classified employees may be eligible for consideration for a $20.00 merit increase on their merit anniversary date. Fire personnel work a regular work week of 56 hours and do not receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 56 hours. In lieu of overtime pay, fire department personnel (except unclassified personnel) receive $5.00 per call back, when off duty 'and responding to major alarms. The monthly rates shown in steps "A" through "H" on scales 13 through 16 include extra holiday pay for classified uniformed police and fire personnel as provided by Arkansas Statutes 69-101, 69-104, and 19-1713 as amended. Such extra holiday pay is included in the monthly salaries and pro -rated throughout the year through the pay periods as provided by State Statute. Promotions In order to be considered for a promotion, an employee must meet the minimum entry qualifications contained in the Job Description for the position to which he or she has been recommended for promotion. In addition, the pro- visions of the Personnel Policy regarding promotions shall apply. When a promotion is granted, the employee's pay shall be raised to the next highest step. No employee will be eligible for consideration for a promotion until the employee has served six months in his present position. • • • -2- Unclassified Employees • • Administrative, managerial, and upper supervisory personnel shall be un- classified personnel. That is, they shall not be included in the classified pay plan and shall not be eligible for overtime.
