HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-76 RESOLUTIONt RESOLUTION NO. oP 74 r RESOLUTION URGING THE ARKANSAS GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO ADOPT ENABLING LEGISLATION FOR MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS IN ARKANSAS TO SOLVE THEIR OWN FINANCIAL PROBLEMS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1: That the Board of Directors hereby endorses and strongly urges the Arkansas General Assembly to amend Act 990 of 1975 to grant all municipalities in the state the ability to submit to their voters a local sales tax. Section 2. That the Board of Directors hereby endorses and strongly urges the Arkansas General Assembly to amend the local income tax law to allow municipalities in Arkansas to impose a local income tax by a majority vote of their governing bodies, and require the state to collect said income tax and turn it back to the city where levied.
