RESOLUTION NO. 9- 71.5-
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO FILE AN ABSTRACT FOR AN
INNOVATIVE PROJECT TO BE FUNDED FROM THE DISCRETIONARY FUNDS PORTION OF THE
HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1974.
Whereas, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas has an urgent need to improve
the treatment of solid wastes for the City of Fayetteville, Washington County,
and the University of Arkansas, and
Whereas, the city staff, members of the faculty, and staff of the University
of Arkansas, and staff of Washington County, along with the Solid Waste Committee
have conducted considerable research into various alternative methods of solid
waste disposal; and
Whereas, it has been determined that the best alternative method technolo-
gically speaking and meeting the requirements of the Environmental Protection
Agency for environmental and ecological protection is a Solid Waste Disposal
Unit with Incinerator and Steam Production capability.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section I. That Donald L. Grimes, City Manager of the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas, be and he is hereby authorized to execute and file an ABSTRACT for
an INNOVATIVE PROJECT on behalf of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, with the
Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Government, under Title 24,
Chapter V, Part 570.406, INNOVATIVE PROJECTS.
Section II. That the said City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to provide the certifications required by Part 570.406(c)(3), and
such other information as the Department of Housing and Urban Development may
require. g )
