A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPEAL OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY
HOSPITAL AND GERIATRIC CENTER FOR APPROVAL OF A 72 BED MEDICARE
AND MEDICAID APPROVED SKILLED NURSING FACILITY EXPANSION.
WHEREAS, Fayetteville City Hospital and Geriatric Center
filed an Application for Capital Expenditures with the State
Health Coordinating Council for a 72 bed medicare and medicaid
approved skilled nursing facility expansion; and
WHEREAS, said Council accepted the recommendation of the
Executive Committee of the State Health Planning and Develop-
ment Agency for a six month moratorium on new nursing home$
being constructed in Arkansas, and disapproved said application;
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors is of the opinion that an
urgent need exists for the 72 bed expansion program proposed by
Fayetteville City Hospital and Geriatric Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
That the Board of Directors hereby urges the panel appointed
by Governor David Pryor to hear the appeal of Fayetteville City
Hospital and Geriatric Center to approve said institution's Appli-
cation for Capital Expenditures to construct a 72 bed expansion
program, because there presently exists an urgent need for addi-
tional medicare and medicaid approved skilled nursing facilities
in Northwest Arkansas.
