RESOLUTION NO. 1717-76.
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION FOR A RURAL HIGHWAY
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM GRANT BY THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY
AGENCY OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas recognizes the need for public highway transportation
throughout Northwest Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has determined that the
application submitted by the Economic Opportunity Agency for a
Rural Highway Transportation Demonstration Program Grant under
Section 147 of the Federal -Aid Highway Act of 1973, as amended by
Section 103 of the Federal Highway Amendments of 1974 represents
an acceptable method of enhancing the mobility of the transporation
disadvantaged of Northwest Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Opportunity Agency of Washington County
has demonstrated the capacity to successfully design, operate, and
administer a variety of human service programs over the past nine
years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the Board of Directors goes on public record
in support of the Economic Opportunity Agency's application for a
Rural Highway Public Transportation Program Grant.
Section 2. That the Board of Directors urges favorable con-
sideration by the Federal Highway Administration of the aforementioned
application.
Section 3. That the Board of Directors pledges its full support
and cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and the
Economic Opportunity Agency of Washington County in the implementation
of said application.
