A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND
HOUSING DEPARTMENT AS THE HOUSING AGENCY OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE.
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, a municipal
corporation, has the opportunity under Public Law 93-383, to re-
ceive a grant of $168,399.00 dollars under the
Section 8 Low Income Rental Assistance Program through the
Department of Housing and Urban Development for the express
purpose of providing rental assistance to the low income citizens
of the City of Fayetteville, and
WHEREAS, there is not an organization identified as the
Housing Agency for the city administration of the City of Fayette-
ville, and
WHEREAS, the administrative expertise for the implementa-
tion of a Section 8 Program exists within the City's Community
Development and Housing Department and it is considered in the
best interests of the City of Fayetteville to take advantage of
the Section 8 Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the Community Development and Housing
Department and the director thereof are hereby authorized to
act on behalf of the City of Fayetteville as the Housing Agency
for the implementation of the Section 8 Low Income Rental Assis-
tance Program under the Department of Housing and Urban Develop-
ment. This department is constituted to execute the Section 8
Program as contained in the Rules and Regulations published by
the Department of Housing and Urban Development, better known
as Title 24 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 882, Subject,
"Section 8 Housing Assistance and Payment Program - Existing
Housing," and is capable of carrying out the responsibilities of
the Public Housing Agency, as defined in Paragraph 882.116
of 24 CFR, Part 882.
Section 2. That the said Community Development and Housing
Department and the director thereof are hereby authorized and
directed to provide the necessary administration for the imple-
mentation of a Section 8 Low Rental Assistance Program as required
by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
