A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A POLICY REGARDING THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
OF PROPERTY ALONG ARKANSAS HIGHWAY NO, 265 BETWEEN ARKANSAS HIGHWAYS
NUMBER 16 EAST IN FAYETTEVILLE AND ARKANSAS HIGHWAY NUMBER 68 EAST/
IN SPRINGDALE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE`: ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the Board of Directors hereby adopts the
following statements of policy for the growth and development for
property along Arkansas Highway No. 265 between Arkansas Highway No.
16 East in"Fayetteville and Arkansas Highway No. 68 East in Springdale:
(1) Development will Abe in keeping with the official
locally adopted plans for the area;
(2) Residential=access tothe highway will be controlled
through design by encouraging backup or side in lots
in all subdivisionslocated adjacent to the roadway;
(3) Public street _cuts'to) highway will be restricted to a
minniniuin spacing`"of one-quarter mile;
(4) Direct access to the highway will be discouraged
except for continuation of existing driveways
serving adjacent land use activities. Service to
new non-residential development should be constructed
at a 600 foot spacing for full access cuts and 300
foot spacing for right turn;:only cuts;
(5) Commercial development will be allowed or encouraged
only at major street intersections (as identified by
the major street plan) and only after the communities'
comprehensive plans have been amended to reflect the`
new land use patterns;
(.6) The planning bodies party to this policy statement
will coordinate with adjacent jurisdictions any
proposals for amendment to land use plans which may
have an effect on another jurisdiction.
Section 2. That all resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict
herewith be, and hereby are, repealed.
Section 3, That this resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval.
