WHEREAS, general local government.inArkansas is charged with the
responsibility for`the protection ofTthe'basic rights of public peace,
health and safety of our citizens and securing to the citizens of the
state the rights of life, liberty'and pursuit of happiness; and,
•
WHEREAS, in order to insure this protection, it is necessary that
the general assembly make a commitment to return an equitable portion
of the state's general revenue to all general local governments for the
purpose of assisting in the provision of the local governmental services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION I. That the Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas strongly endorses the proposal for the State of Arkansas to
allocate 7% of its general revenues each year to general government in
this state; 4% to municipal aid fund and 3% to county aid fund.
SECTION II. That the Board of Directors strongly endorses the
proposal that these funds should be distributed to municipalities and
counties in the manner now provided by law.
