HomeMy WebLinkAbout15-71 RESOLUTION• - RESOLUTION NO. 15-71 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, a municipal corporation,"did cause studies to be made of the -needs for street improvement to,East Jackson Drive,from Mission Boulevard to. North Jackson Drive, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the above-described studies the Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,. has received from the City Manager certain findings and determinations, which findings and determinations are as follows, to -wit: REPORT ON IMPROVEMENT OF EAST JACKSON DRIVE FROM MISSION BOULEVARD TO NORTH JACKSON DRIVE 1. In accordance with Resolution No. 3-71 passed and approved by the Board of Directors on February 1, 1971, the City Manager was authorized to perform studies for the improvement of East Jackson Drive from Mission Boulevard to North Jackson Drive. These instructions required a report to be made to the Board of Directors containing the following listed data: A. Determination of necessary improvements. B. Determination of the approximate cost of said improve- ments. C. The available means for financing same D. The portion thereof which the municipality is willing and able to pay. E, The approximate assessment which would be made against each lot or parcel of property. 2. The proposed street improvement project should include complete street reconstruction on East Jackson Drive from Mission Boulevard to North Jackson Drive. Necessary improvements include reconstruction of base to meet current City standards; repaving with two (2) inches of hot mix asphaltic materials, twenty eight (28) feet wide from flow line to flow line; installation of a four (4) foot concrete sidewalk in lieu of curb and gutter on the north side of said street; and installation of concrete curb and gutter on the south side of said street. 3. The total estimated project cost for street reconstruc- tion on East Jackson Drive from Mission Boulevard to North Jackson Drive is $8475. • • 4. It is proposed that the City would pay $2,600 of said cost with an assessment of $5,875 being levied against the real property benefited by the proposed improvement to reimburse the City for a portion of the cost of the improvements. 5. It is proposed that the property owner(s) be given a choice of paying the assessment levied in a lump sum payable within thirty days after the completion of the proposed improve- ments, or in ten (10) equal annual installments bearing interest at the rate of ten per cent per annum. If the property owner(s) choose(s) the installment method of payment, the first install- ment shall be collected on or before October 1, 1971. Second and subsequent installments shall be paid at the time provided by law for paying the first installment of general taxes on the property. 6. The approximate assessments which would be made against each lot or parcel of property are as follows: TRACT APPROXIMATE ASSESSMENT Lot 18, Jackson Height Addition $600.00 Lot 19, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 20, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 21, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 22, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 23, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 24, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 25, Jackson Height Addition 600.00 West one-half of Lot 26, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 East one-half of Lot 26, Jackson Height Addition 350.00 Lot 27, Jackson Height Addition 375.00 Lot 28, Jackson Height Addition 375.00 Lot 29, Jackson Height Addition 375.00 Lot 30, Jackson Height Addition 375.00 Lot 31, Jackson Height Addition 375.00 • -3- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that said municipality indicates the desire to undertake the above described improvements provided the owners of a majority in value of the real estate to be assessed agree to repay said municipality the portion of the cost described above through uniform benefits upon each lot or parcel of property described above.
