WHEREAS, during recent months less than 94 percent of the scheduled
airline flights to Fayetteville's Drake Field have been completed and most
overflights are due to the lack of adequate navigational aids to facilitate
landing in inclement weather, and
WHEREAS, localizer approach facility would make possible the completion
of a higher percentage of the scheduled airline and other flights to Drake
Field.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Directors of the City
of Fayetteville urges the U. S. Federal Aviation Administration to install
a localizer approach facility at Drake Field.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City Manager is directed to convey the
Board's request for the installation of such a facility to the Federal
Aviation Administration.
