A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, REQUEST-
ING THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO DESIGNATE THE HIGHWAY 71 INDUSTRIAL

BY-PASS AS A STATE HIGHWAY.
WHEREAS, the safety and economic welfare of the citizens of Northwest
Arkansas is jeopardized by the lack of adequate north -south arterial roads as
evidenced by the extremely heavy traffic on U.S. Highway Route 71 through the
Fayetteville, Springdale, Lowell, Rodgers area; and
WHEREAS, the county governments of Washington and Benton counties have
taken steps to develop a north south route east of U.S. Highway Route 71 known
as the Highway 71 Industrial By -Pass.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
The Arkansas State Highway Commission is requested to designate the High-
way 71 Industrial By -Pass as a State Highway, such by-pass to begin in Fayette-
ville north of Drake Field, continue through the Fayetteville Industrial Park,
thence northerly through the Springdale Industrial Park and east of U.S. Highway
71 north to rejoin U.S. Highway 71 at Rodgers.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 19th DAY OF MAY, 1969.
