NOW, THEREFORE Bl* IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: That this Board go on record as vigorously opposing the
passage of House Bill 24, House Bill 147, House Bill 171, and Senate Bill 138,
because of their great cost to the taxpayers of Arkansas cities and because of
their tendency to further erode local power over purely local matters; and
SECTION 2. That this Board go on record as vigorously opposing the
passage of Senate Bill 136 because that area which is situated five (5) miles
outside a city!s corporate limits is just as much a part of the city's social, f'
political, and economic life as if it were already within the city's corporate
limits and should, therefore, remain under the planning jurisdiction of the
local governing body; and
SECTION 3. That this Board go on record as opposing any legislation that
would take authority away from the local governing body while not changing the
responsibility of providing local, public services.
