HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-68 RESOLUTION• RESOLUTION NO. • A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT REQUEST TO THE SECRETARY OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPREHENSIVE CITY DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM AND APPOINTING THE CITY MANAGER AS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, IN CONNECTION WITH ALL MATTERS PERTAINING THERETO. WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas desires to undertake a comprehensive program to rebuild and revitalize large slum and blighted areas and generally improve living conditions for the people who live in the City of Fayetteville, and WHEREAS, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to make grants to, and contract with, City Demonstration Agencies to pay 80% of the cost of planning and developing City Demonstration Programs; and WHEREAS, such financial and planning assistance by the Department of Housing and Urban Development will be of benefit to the citizens of the City miV of Fayetteville, Arkansas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1: The City Manager of the City of Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas, is hereby authorized and empowered to submit to the Secre- tary of Housing and Urban Development a request for financial assistance for the planning and development of a comprehensive City Demonstration Program, and furthermore to prepare and make available any and all information or documentation concerning the preparation and contents of such City Demonstra- tion Program request as may be required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. • 2 s SECTION 2. The City Manager of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is hereby appointed as the authorized representative of said City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to act on behalf of said City of Fayetteville, Ark- ansas, in connection with all matters pertaining to the request for said financial assistance. SECTION 3. The City of Fayetteville hereby agrees to comply with the regulations of the Secretary effectuating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which provide that no person'shall, on the ground of race, color or national origin,lbe excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in the undertaking of any of the projects • • or activities assisted under Title I of the Demonstration Cities and Metropoli- tan Development Act of 1966.
