A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS INDICATING OPPOSI-
TION TO THE PASSAGE 01' SENATE BILL 146.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 146 has been introducedin the 1967 General
Assembly which would make it. mandatory for all fire departments in cities
of over 15,000 population to have three platoons of firemen, each platoon
observing shifts of 24 hours on -duty and 48 hours off-duty; and
WHEREAS, the passage of this bill would require the City of Fayette-
ville to either reduce the level of service by having less men on duty during
daylight hours or employ an additional 15. firemen to keep the same level of
service as presently maintained during the daytime; and
WHEREAS, a reduction of the level of service would endanger our
attractive fire insurance rating .and the employment of 15 additional firemen
would cost. the City of Fayetteville over $60,000 additional annually; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature, as a part of this Bill, is not pro-
viding any additional revenues for the cities to carry out its terms, and, in
