A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
TO PROCURE TREATED WATER FROM THE BEAVER WATER DISTRICT RESER-
VOIR.
WHEREAS, by reason of the rapid growth of population, busi-
nesses and industries in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, the
City is presently consuming water at an ever increasing rate,
with the result that the City will require a greatly expanded
supply of treated water within the near future, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, presently has
contractual rights to receive 11,000,000 gallons of water per
day from the Beaver Water District Reservoir, with assigned
rights of an additional 9,000,000 gallons of water per day when
needed, and the potential for further increases in water capaci-
ty as additional allotments are made from unalloted surpluses by
the Beaver Water District.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Directors of the
City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to apprise the Commissioners. of
the Beaver Water District of the City's intention to purchase
treated water from the District's facilities and of the City's
intention to'enter into negotiations for a memorandum of under-
standing concerning the terms for purchase, in order that the
District may proceed with necessary steps preliminary to the is-
suance of bonds and the investment in facilities required to
provide the City with the needed water.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That in -order to assure the City of Fayette-
ville, Arkansas, of sufficient amounts of treated water to ac-
commodate the growth of the City, it is in the best interest of
the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to procure treated water
from the Beaver Water District Reservoir.
SECTION 2. That the Commissioners of the Beaver Water Dis-
trict be and they are hereby advised of the intention of the
Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to
procure treated water from the Beaver Water District at an early
date, and of the intention of the Board of Directors to enter
into negotiations for a memorandum of understanding, between the

interested cities and the Beaver Water District, establishing
the terms and conditions under which said water shall be pur-
chased.
