WHEREAS, the Arkansas State Highway Department has under-
taken a study of proposed improvementsto the highway system through
Northwest Arkansas, and particularly with reference to U.S. High-
way 71; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
recognized the urgent need for improvements in the highway system
throughout Northwest Arkansas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF T n CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
1. That the Arkansas State Highway Department be urged to con-
tinue itsstudy of the proposed improvementsto the highway system
throughout Northwest Arkansas, and particularly with reference to
U.S. Highway 71, and that a decision be reached at the earliest
practicable date concerning such proposed improvements.
2. That the Planning Division of the State Highway Department be
requested to consider the Master Street Plan adopted by the City of
Fayetteville in,conjunction with its study of said proposed improve-
ments.
3. That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to F.R. Oliver,
Director, State. Highway Department, and to Armil Taylor, member
of the Arkansas State Highway Commission representing Northwest
Arkansas.
