HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-51 RESOLUTIONleo er RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, and the Civil Aeronautics Adminis- tration have an investment in Drake Field, the Fayetteville Municipal Airport, valued at more then $300,000.00, and in addition thereto, the Civil Aeronautics Administration has weather facilities and a communication station located at said Drake Field presently in operation, and said airport has a 3,000 foot paved runway with necessary lighting for night flying, which paved runway and lighting installations were constructed and installed jointly by the City of Fayetteville and the Civil Aeronautics Administration and, WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has a population within the boundary of the City of Fayetteville of some 20,000 people and the immediate trade area commercially a part of the City of Fayetteville has an additional • population of approximately 10,000 people, and, WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has no regularly scheduled air service far either passengers or air express or mail. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That the Civil Aeronautics Board be memorialized and requested to issue certificates of convenience and necessity to an air carrier for the purpose of providing aerial transportation on regularly scheduled flights for passengers, mail and air express, either on a temporary or permanent basis and if feeder line service is certificated which the City considers will give the City of Fayetteville better air service in that more stops per day can be scheduled that such feeder line have direct connections with facilities at Tulsa, Oklahoma, Little Rock, Arkansas, Springfield, Missouri and Fort Smith, Arkansas.
