d1L1t: A3, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas ams an airport equipped
with shops, hangars and other facilities necessary and convenient for the
operation thereof; said airport being in length a full mile; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville in participating in the C. A. A. Air-
port Development Program and a 3,000' hard surface runway is now under
construction; and
nrnitiAS, the City of Fayetteville is within a few miles of the inter-
section of airlines drown from Kansas City, to. to Shreveport, La.; Tulsa,
Okla. to Memphis, Team.; Vichita, Kan. to Little Rock, Ark.; Dallas -Ft. Worth
to St. Louis; Dallas -.Ft. Worth to Chicago; Oklahoma City to Nashville end
Tulsa to Nashville; and
«]LR AS, the City of Fayetteville is the home of the University of Ark-
ansan and a U. U. Veterans Hospital facility, both of which have many mid -
residents therein; and
r1ci uA3, the City -of Fayetteville is the home of .the Western Methodist
Assembly which accommodates thousands of non-residents annually, and is
also in the heart of a groat diversified agriculture and industrial area,
and is an educational and religious center; and
WHEREAS, weather reporting and/or cam.-unicatiens facilities are urgently
needed;
NCP, THEREFORE, lb; IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fayetteville, Arras, that the Civil Aeronautics Administration be and
it is hereby requested that the communications station for Northwest Arkan-
sas be located at Drake Field, Fayetteville's Lunicipal Airport, as in the
judgment of said Council, will provide the greatest service for the general
