Summary:
1. Identifying local implications of watershed policy including an article in the
Morning News of Northwest Arkansas on Benton County's land use policy and
how it could potentially impact the water quality of Beaver Lake.
2. Amy Lamb gave an update on her research into native plants for Northwest
Arkansas. John Coleman will post this research on the City's website as a
reference for citizens. Nicole Hardiman and Phil Penny reviewed their
discussions with John Pennington from the U of A Extension Office regarding
the economic impacts of riparian zones and the potential input for policy
development.
3. Amy Lamb requested information from Committee members to develop a Bio
for each that will then be included in a packet to the City Council. This effort
is to better inform City Council members of the existing expertise of EAC
members.
4. The Committee decided to submit City Council Agenda comments as a
committee rather than individually. Amy Lamb will receive these comments
and incorporate them into a single document to redistribute to the group
before sending the final comments to the City Clerk's Office before each
Council meeting.
5. Watershed Luncheon "To Do, By Whom, By When" - Committee members
volunteered to help with the September watershed luncheon
6. EAC Attendance Requirements - EAC members will be subject to dismissal if
they miss three meetings in a row. Members are asked to provide feedback
on why they missed and make an effort to follow up on content that was
discussed in the meeting.
7. Next Meeting: Amy Lamb requested an update on the Fayetteville Forward
Committees with a potential emphasis on the Hillside Overlay and Transfer of
Development Rights discussion.
