PROPOSAL On January 19d'the City Council approved$196,050 in curb and gutter services from Sweetser Construction, Inc.,which included$62,000 in flatwork services. Flatwork services include form work, materials and labor to complete 4"and 6"thick concrete sidewalks, driveway approaches and access ramps at various Transportation projects. Since approval of the initial Sweetser bid,the City has begun the Block Avenue enhancement project. The project is expected to last through September 2010 and will require extensive work from Transportation crews. In order to complete the Block Avenue project on time and continue momentum on other approved projects citywide,it would be most efficient to utilize Sweetser on additional sidewalk projects to maintain scheduled production of the 2010 sidewalk construction plan. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends a Resolution amending Resolution No. 15-10,awarding Bid 10-03 and approving the purchase of curb and gutter and concrete flatwork from Sweetser Construction Inc. as needed through the end of calendar year 2010. BUDGET IMPACT Funds for the acquisition of additional services are available in the Sidewalk Improvements capital project. Sufficient funding is available for the projects initially forecasted during the 2010 budget process.
