PRESENT: Bob Davis, Joe Fennel, John Gilliam, Alex Jerde, Ching Mong, Curtis

The regular meeting of the Advertising and Promotion Commission was called to order at
the Chamber of Commerce conference room at 2:00 p.m. by Chairman Joe Fennel.

MINUTES
Moved by Shipley, second by Mong to approve the minutes of the December 11 meeting.
Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
John Maguire presented the financial report for December. Collections for the month
were up 1.23% with total collections at $97,771. Total collections for the year were
$1,254,310. December expenses were $56,213 and year end expenses totaled $661,834.
CONVENTION AND VISITOR DEVELOPMENT REPORT
Responses to inquiries were up in December because of inquiries received from Travel
Marketing Group from spring and fall issues. FAM Tour with Kincaid of Oklahoma was
a success. Forty four group tour leaders participated in the tour. The Town Center
Topping Off ceremony was held in December. Lights of the Ozarks festival was not as
successful with the bad weather encountered the last two weeks of December.
BLACKWOOD/MARTIN/CJRW REPORT
Susan Wallace reported that the agency was competing work of placement of spring ads.
The agency met with Joe Fennel and Wade Colwell regarding the trails in the Running
and Walking brochure.
Old Business
TOWN CENTER
Richard Alderman told the Commission that the Town Center had lost three weeks during
the ice in December. There are no major issues on the project.
DRAFT HMR ORDINANCE
Joe Fennel, Marilyn, John Maguire, Steve Davis, Jerry Rose, LaGayle McCarty, Emma
Badgley, and Marsha Farthing met to discuss the ordinance. Consensus was that the
whole issue is one of competitive fairness. The following were issues of concern: 1)
define food or businesses, 2) stronger emphasis on collections, and definition of
delinquent taxpayers. Marilyn will present new ordinance to Ordinance Review
Committee.

New Business
BUDGET ROLLFORWARDS FOR 2001
Moved by Shipley, second by Jerde to approve budget rollforwards from 2000 Budget to
2001 Budget. Motion carried
TURNBACK FUNDS
Marilyn reported that there was a move by Jodie Mahoney to end turnback funds for
those who had not applied by June 2000. The Town Center would be affected by this.
Marilyn will discuss with our legislators to determine why the Town Center was
approved two years ago and not in current bill.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
