CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Fred Hanna at 2:00 p.m.
at the Chamber of Commerce office.
MONTHLY REPORTS:
MINUTES
It was moved by Shipley, second by Williams to approve the
minutes of the March 24 meeting. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL
Ben Mayes presented the financial report for March. The HMR
collections were $76,808, an increase of 5.91% over March
1996 collections. Total collections year to date are
$223,716, a 2.73%. March expenditures were $35,402.
Moved by Shipley, second by Williams to approve the March
financial report. Motion carried.
ACTIVITY REPORT
Marilyn Snapp presented the March activities of Convention
Visitor Development and the first quarter report.
Moved by Williams, second by Shipley to approve the
Convention Visitor Director report. Motion carried.
AGENCY REPORT
Susan Stirewalt reported that inquiries had increased. The
agency is redesigning the Fayetteville brochures and working
on fall placement of advertising.
Moved by Shipley, second by Williams to approve the agency
report. Motion carried.
TROLLEY OPERATIONS REPORT
Report was presented as an informational item. An increase
in ridership can be seen. New trolley should arrive by next
meeting. The U of A students have again asked for the
• entertainment trolley which ran on weekends. Ben has asked
them to submit a written request.
OLD BUSINESS:
REPORT OF AAAA STATE BASKETBALL
Larry Biddle reported that they

Tournament attracted 24 teams with 1080 attendees. They are
requesting $2,000. Moved by Williams, second by Shipley to
approve the request. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
HOLIDAY HOOPS FUNDING REQUEST EXTENSION
Larry Bittle requested that he be allowed to present a
funding request for Holiday Hoops at the next A & P
Commission meeting because they had been involved in the AAAA
basketball tournament.
Moved by Williams, second by Shipley to approve the request.
Motion carried.
EXHIBIT HALL/TOWN CENTER
Two public hearing have been scheduled - April 16 at 5:00
p.m. and April 22 at 7:00 p.m.
Discussion followed on format of public hearing and method of
taking public comments. Written comments as well as taped
comments will be taken.
MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Alex Jerde invited Commissioners to come to Hilton to see
375-450 Wal -mart people in for 5 days.
