CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Coy Kaylor, Chairman.
NEW APPOINTMENT:
Committee members reviewed applications from four applicants
(Alex Jerde, Cary Arsaga, David Coley, Mike Hopkins) to fill
the seat on the commission vacated by Jon Davidson.
A motion was made by Jim Waselus and seconded by Linda
McBride that Alex Jerde be appointed to fill the seat on the
Advertising & Promotion Commission vacated by Jon Davidson.
Carried.
MONTHLY REPORTS:
Minutes - A motion was made by Linda McBride and seconded by
Jim Waselus to approve the Minutes as presented. Carried.
Financial Report - A motion was made by Woody Bassett and
seconded by Fred Hanna to approve the Financial Report as
presented. Carried.
Convention & Visitor's Activity Report - A motion was made
by Joe Fennel and seconded by Woody Bassett to approve the
Convention and Visitor's Activity Report as presented.
Carried.
Agency Report - A motion was made by Joe Fennel and seconded
by Jim Waselus to approve the Agency Report as presented.
Carried.
BUSINESS:
CCE Bonds - David Hausam of LLAMA Co. reported that
significant savings could still be realized if CCE bonds are
refinanced in the near future.
A motion was made by Joe Fennel and seconded by Linda McBride
to recommend refinancing of the CCE bonds. Carried.
Exhibit Hall - Joe Fennel reported that the subcommittee has
looked at several different options for locating an exhibit
hall and parking.
The subcommittee members concluded that it is more important
to have exhibition space attached to the conference center
than to have exhibition spaceattached to parking facilities.
Coy Kaylor directed the subcommittee to obtain more
information and to include Randy Rhine in future meetings and
discussions.
Wal-Mart Conference - Joe Fennel reissued an invitation to
commissioners to visit the Wal-Mart conference and agreed to
contact commissioners with information on the conference.
Hot Air Balloon - Commissioners received a formal proposal
from John Strack and Dee Dietz regarding a hot air balloon to
be used to advertise Fayetteville to potential tourists in
other states around the country. Mark Blackwood agreed to
have Susan Stirewalt prepare a report for the next meeting
which will include the number of audiences that could be
reached and the approximate cost of each contact that would
be made.
