The meeting was called to order by Joe Fennel at 2:05 p.m.
at the Chamber of Commerce.
MONTHLY REPORTS:
MINUTES
Approval of the minutes was postponed until the November
meeting.
FINANCIAL
Ben Mayes presented the financial report for September. HMR
collections were $76,833 in September an increase of 12.51%
over 1993 collections. Total year to date collections are
$638,663, an increase of 19.45%. September expenditures were
$49,744. Year to date expenditures $720,827.
Motion by McBride, second by Hanna to approve the financial
report. Motion carried.
ACTIVITY REPORT
Marilyn Johnson reviewed September activities of Convention
Visitor Development. 800 number calls received in September
totaled 624 calls. Year-to-date calls totaled 6339 an
increase over 1993 calls of 4856 year-to-date. Total inquiry
responses for September were 2571. Year to date inquiries
received total 26,601.
Convention activity has involved working with Industrial
Developers of Arkansas Convention providing registration
assistance, work with future conferences as follows* NCAA
Cross Country, the Water Resources Conference, Holiday Hoops,
Jonathan Zimmerman return visit, and senior bus tours.
Assistance has been provided for Autumnfest and Lights of the
Ozarks as well as the Northwest Arkansas Motion Picture
Commission and the Square Gardens Committee.
Moved by McBride, second by Hanna to approve the Convention
Visitor Report. Motion carried.

• AGENCY REPORT
Susan Stirewalt discussed advertising update. She presented
a proposal for an increase in the public notification
fund in 1995 budget. She said the state does a good job
selling Arkansas and it's up to us to sell Fayetteville.
Plans would expand advertising for potential retirees and
year round advertising to complement the spring and fall
placements currently used. Increase in public notification
fund will be considered as a line item when 1995 budget is
approved.
Motion by McBride to approve the agency report, second by
Hanna. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
SQUARE GARDENS
Willie Newman presented a proposal from the Square Gardens
Advisory Board to repair damaged/broken brick and add a
limestone cap to the top layer of brick. Bassett moved that
$12,500 be released to rehabilitate brick planters in Square
Gardens.
NEW BUSINESS:
• SPECIAL PROJECT FUNDING FOR 1995 SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
Joe Fennel (chairman) presented the recommendations of the
subcommittee and recommended approval of $121,232 of $347,734
requested for special projects (detailed list attached). He
also recommended approval of $42,500 of $81,768.61 requested
for festivals. Each request was discussed and presentations
were made on behalf of Little O'Oprey and OZARTS. Kaylor
moved that the proposal be adopted as submitted by the
subcommittee. Second by Hanna. Motion carried.

BROCHURE LINE ITEM FOR 1995 BUDGET
Marilyn Johnson reported on Fayetteville brochure status and
requested that a brochure line item in 1995 budget for
$47,257 be considered. Action will be taken on this item
with adoption of 1995 budget.
Since there was no further business, the meeting was
adjourned.
