GROUP: ADVERTISING & PROMOTION COMMISSION

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Michael Green.
MONTHLY REPORTS:
MINUTES:
A motion was made by Fred Vorsanger and seconded by Bob Blackston to
approve the Minutes as written and received. Carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Ben Mayes presented the Financial Report to the commission noting that
the report showed $10,750 left to spend under Special Projects and $4,000
left to spend under Promotional Activities. The committments for Pride
in Dickson Street and the Peace Corps convention will come from those.
available amounts.
ACTIVITY REPORT:
Ben Mayes reported that the Activity Report would be forthcoming.
BUSINESS:
Locomotive - Fred Vorsanger reported that Jerry Montgomery, Mayor of
Mena, has an interest in purchasing the locomotive for Mena and Steve
Ward reported that Tyson's also has a sincere interest in purchasing
the locomotive. Both inquiries will be pursued.
Governor's Conference on Tourism - The Governor's Conference on Tourism
will be held March 21st through March 24th. An excellent turnout is
expected.
MRGH Report - Ed Barham reported that a flyer has been printed and
will be mailed to hotels, motels, restaurants, car rental agencies,
grocery stores, etc. to encourage them to attend the Mayor's Conference.
The conference will include two sessions, one in the morning and one
in the evening. Ed Barham expressed hopes of having approximately
200 participants in each session for a total of 400 participants.

MRGH Contract Review - Mike Green, Jim Waselues, Joe Fennel and Steve
Ward agreed to serve on a committee to review the performance of MRGH
over the past year and make a recommendation to the commission with
regard to the contract for the coming year. Steve Ward agreed to get
copies of the contract to the committee members and to schedule the
committee meeting.
Convention and Visitor Director Position - Steve Ward reported that there
are some 15-20 applicants for the position. There are approximately
10 applicants with experience and probably 5 or 6 of those will be
interviewed in the beginning. If the right person is not found during
the initial round of interviews then additional interviews will be
scheduled.
