1. The meeting was called to order by Michael Green,
at 3:00 p.m. Motion by Coy Kaylor seconded by Jim Waleleus to
approve the minutes as read for the March 26, 1990 and
February 26, 1990 meetings. Carried.
2. Dickson Street Study- Angela Pryer presented a
study on the redevelopment of the Dickson Street area. The
report included a student survey, and summary. Angela noted
that the Dickson street project is long term and that the
survey should be updated to remain current with students
needs and desires.
3. Surplus Locomotive- Richard Shewmaker reported
that the Federal Government has given the City of Fayetteville
a reconditioned switch engine. The unit is presently in Utah
and will cost $4,500 to transport to Fayetteville. In
addition there will be a $1,000 cost to have the State of
Arkansas over see the locomotive for one year. Motion by Coy
Kaylor, seconded by Michael Green that the Advertising &
Promotion Commission pay the $5,500 cost of aquiring the
locomotive, subject to the commission recthving any and all
financial bentfits derived from owning and or selling the
locomotive. Carried.
4. Washington County Fairgrounds- Richard Shewmaker
updated those present on the concept of developing anevent at
the fairgrounds. Those present agreed to have Richard
Shewmaker pursue the feasibility of having anevent at the
Fairgrounds.
5. Nomadic Booth- Susan Stirwalt requested input on
the size of the new booth, noting that a18 foot booth would
cost42,598 and a 10 foot booth would cost3,250. Those
present agreed that the 8 foot booth would be the preference
of the Commission. Susan will provide more information at the
next meeting.
