2. Blackwood & Martin presented an analysis of 1987
expenditures and those still scheduled to be made from these
funds. They also distributed a list of placements suggested
for the remainder of 1988 and a list of a full 12 -month place-
ment schedule that would run through April, 1989. These two
schedules were presented due to the effort being made to con-
vert our budget year to the calendar year. Technically, they
will come back in October, 1988 and present the full year 1989
budget for approval.
The Commission asked the agency to look at the follow-
ing items:
a. Newspaper placement in Kansas City. It
was generally agreed that we were spending too much
in that market relative to the importance of the mar-
ket to Fayetteville. It was suggested we look at the
--- --- Memphis -and -Illinois markets as alternates.
b. Specialty items - items that might be
given by local firms as complimentary to visitors,
customers, etc. It was suggested we look at the
specialty money still available in the 1987 budget
as a starter on this program.
c. A brochure covering the city-wide sales
pitch for conventions, conferences, etc. This may
be designed to have specific facilities add their
own brochures for use.
On a motion by Melton, second by Clodfelter,
for 1988 was approved as submitted with the items of
to be addressed by the agency and budget adjustments
fore placement committed.

3. Dale Frederick asked the Commission to consider a
package of promotional material to be used by the airport to
give to school children touring the airport. He estimated 500
or more would be needed annually. The Commission asked the
agency to work with Frederick in determining a cost for con-
sideration at a later meeting.
4. Dale Christy presented a recap of the 1987 Special
Project expenditures for the Commission to study. A review of
policy regarding future special project allocations will be
considered at the next meeting.
