Adjourn Meeting adjourned at 5:46 pm Minutes taken by Melanie Thomas 2 Fayetteville Disc Association Annual Report 2014 Membership: 150 members Leagues: Winter League — Winter league had 10 teams. Games were played at Gary Hampton from January through March. Volunteer captains draft the players that sign up and help execute league. Spring League — FDA introduced a Spring league in 2014 in March and April. We played at the Boys & Girls Club and paid them directly for their field use. There were 8 teams. Players formed teams themselves and then entered as a team versus signing up individually as they do in Winter and Summer league. Summer League — Summer league saw 8 teams. Games were played at Lewis Soccer Complex in June through August. ADA — A 4 team open competitive league held this summer. This league provides players an opportunity to play at a higher level than in our other leagues. Teaching the game and encouraging newer players are more important than winning in our other leagues. At ADA, games are played to win. Youth league — FDA rented field space from the Boys & Girls Club in September, and youth players were given the opportunity to scrimmage and play with other youth players. This is a league we want to continue to grow as we believe it is important for the younger players to have a chance to play among their peers only. Young players do play in our other leagues, but are mixed in with older, more experienced members. Fall league — Also held at the Boys & Girls Club, this was our third year for Fall League. It was played for 5 weeks in October and November. Players formed teams and then signed up, like in Spring league. Tournaments: Dan Gabor — held the Saturday of Memorial Day at Lewis Soccer Complex. This was our 14th year to hold this tournament to honor the memory of a fellow ultimate player. There were 20 teams participating in the one day tournament. Each team is limited to 9 players and the format is savage, meaning no subs during the games. Money raised from this tournament goes into a fund for a scholarship we give to the men's and women's ultimate teams for the University of Arkansas. This year we awarded two scholarships to returning men's players who filled out an application and were chosen by the executive committee along with input from their team's captains. The scholarship will pay for their USAU dues, college team dues, and jerseys for the upcoming season. Harvest Moon — held the first weekend in November. This was Harvest's 23`d year and continues to be one of the largest tournaments in the nation. 68 teams participated. We raised $10,300 and a portion was given to the college teams who participated. We also held a canned food drive, Harvest for Harvest, and donated food to the Samaritan Community Center. Pick-up: FDA continues to host weekly pickup games and put forth a big effort in 2014 to revive the attendance. Social media campaigns to encourage players to come out made an impact in increasing numbers. Women development: This year the FDA has taken an initiative to introduce the sport to more women in the community. In February and March we rented out the Yvonne Richardson center and held weekly women clinics. This initiative continues for 2015. Club teams: There were three local teams that played in the USAU ultimate series this season. Two mixed teams, RUA and RUB, and a men's team, The Howlers. All teams played at regionals hosted by Tulsa. RUA placed 2nd in the mixed division. There were two local players who played in a Kansas City team, Prairie Fire, who made it to Nationals in Dallas. Other 2014 News: • Local player, Abe Coffin, made the national U23 team and will play worlds in London • FDA adopted 2 angel tree angels and donated items during their Christmas party • FDA had volunteers go into the elementary schools and teach ultimate in PE Year to Date 2010 2011 Total Comparison $ 2,181,585E $ 2,298,187 I $ 2,521,144 I $ 2,632,799 I $ 2,755,430 , 2012 2013 2014 Fayetteville Parks and Recreation HMR Comparison 2010-2014 $300,000 pp u Qj[1 `.a: '_ a-' yp r -,$1§ $250,000 ;F4 .Z_ "g 'tiF` a M 17- p —i $200,000 $150,000 'x.wr' 44 r.. ✓rteI-!j--MiJ--' 02012 •2013 ■ 2014 $100,000 $50,000 — — — } >- = J } W } 1- 0= tY re D: Opz re ¢ ¢ aO o w LL w 2 0 K:,Anantlal Servks1HMR Reporte[2014 HMR Reportxb72014 HMR Report YTD 2013-2014 4.7% YTD 2013-2014 $122,631
