Broyles Ave Members: Amy Jones; Sarah King; Kathy Launder; Malcolm LeVois; Sue Madison, Vice Chair; Don Steinkraus, Chair City Staff: Ken Eastin, Urban Forester; Derek Linn, Urban Forester 1. Call to Order: 4:20pm I Don Steinkraus, Chair Due to extreme cold weather, the board and visitors present all agreed to hold the Firewise Advisory Board meeting first, to best benefit from the heated indoor space in the treatment plant facility. 2. In Attendance: Kathy Launder, Malcolm LeVois, Damon Lipinski, Sue Madison, Glenda Patterson, Don Steinkraus Absent: Amy Jones Staff: Derek Linn, Sue Butler Guests: Joe Woolbright, Paul Imrie, Jeremy Williams, Jeff Steelman 3. Approval of Minutes: Madison said that Privet was misspelled in the minutes. LeVois moved to approve the minutes with the noted corrections. Patterson seconded it. The motion passed with a 6-0-0 voice vote. 4. Native or Invasive Plant Presentation —Amy Jones Jones was not present so the presentation did not occur. 5. Tour of Woolsey Wet Prairie —Joe Woolbright Woolbright said the Clean Water Act of 1972 requires mitigation of wetlands when they are disturbed by land works. He said that through the construction of the City's west side treatment plant that 9 acres of existing wetland were disturbed, which required 27 acres of wetland mitigation. Woolbright said that after the recent controlled burn at the site, 200 native plant species emerged voluntarily. He said now the number is up to near 400. Woolbright led the group through part of the prairie, recalling highlights of management techniques, and significant species. He said the City has allowed the prairie to expand beyond Mailing Address: 113 W.
