Broyles Ave Members: Amy Jones; Sarah King; Kathy Launder; Malcolm LeVois; Sue Madison, Vice Chair; Don Steinkraus, Chair City Staff: Ken Eastin, Urban Forester; Derek Linn, Urban Forester 1. Call to Order: 4:04pm I Don Steinkraus, Chair Due to extreme cold weather, the board and visitors present all agreed to hold the Firewise Advisory Board meeting first, to best benefit from the heated indoor space in the treatment plant facility. 2. In Attendance: Kathy Launder, Malcolm LeVois, Damon Lipinski, Sue Madison, Glenda Patterson, Don Steinkraus Absent: Amy Jones Staff: Derek Linn, Sue Butler Guests: Joe Woolbright, Paul Imrie, Jeremy Williams, Jeff Steelman 3. Firewise Update: Butler explained that the City of Fayetteville once again has been certified as a 'FireWise Community". She explained what a FireWise Community is and the target areas of the city. Butler said the Fayetteville Fire Department received a $500.00 grant in 2013. Throughout the 2014 year they used it for educational materials and garden equipment and tools to help provide the citizens with a defensible space between the wood line and their homes. She said they held two presentations; one at the Fayetteville Farmer's Market in May and the other at the Fayetteville Family Fire Safety Fair in early October. Butler said during the first week of November, Fire Chief David Dayringer accepted a grant check of$500.00 dollars from the FireWise Communities/USA and the Arkansas Urban Forestry. During the year 2015 this grant will be used to continue to educate and promote to the citizens of Fayetteville the importance of providing a firewise property. 4. Other Business or Announcements 5.
