The following received unanimous support from attending FFEAC members.
Adding a Communication Group to the FFEAC. This group would have the same
standing as the existing action groups and led by Mark Larmoyeux. To view the
discussion during the meeting about this proposal go to:

If you do not want to watch the entire video this discussion starts at time 06:12
or you can go to the Fayetteville Forward website, all meeting videos are under
'Resources' http://fayettevilleforward.accessfayefteville.org
1. Using our consensus model, I need FFEAC members who were not present to
watch the meeting discussion and send me their vote.
Reach group consensus by using the following guidelines to assess levels of consensus:
5. Unconditionally support
4. Slight reservations but will support
3. Some reservations but will not block
2. Serious reservation... not willing to support
1. Cannot support and will actively work to block
Moving Forward -April 17, 2010
2. 1 need volunteers for the following subcommittees:
Sponsorships - responsible for acquiring sponsorship money or in-kind for the
Fayetteville Forward 2010 event(s) to include any of these: venue, refreshments,
advertising, event supplies, etc.
Participation Recruitment - responsible for spreading the word and signing up
participants for the April 17, 2010 event - goal of 500 participants!
Event Design - assist Julie McQuade and Bliss Browne in developing the activities and
program for the event. These activities will be designed to meet the event goal(s) as
determined by the FFEAC as acting event steering committee.
Please sign up for at least one. Also, if there are members of your group that
would be interested in assisting on a subcommittee let me know.
Next, 3. please be prepared to discuss and (hopefully) finalize the goals for the
Fayetteville Forward 2010 event(s) at the February 19 FFEAC meeting. There was
initial discussion about this at the January meeting that can also be viewed at:
http://accessfayetteville.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view id=2&clip id=754
Again, if you do not want to watch the entire video, this discussion begins at time 49:35
4. Finally, I need any ideas for venues for the April 17 event. Probably from 8 a.m.
until 5 p.m. and needs to hold 400+ people. If you know of any place that might
meet our needs please let me know ASAP. The event held at the East Square
Plaza was well received last year - so non-traditional spaces are welcome.

Moving Forward - 2010
FFEAC members were asked to consider the following for discussion during the January 15, 2010
meeting:
1. How will this innovative collaboration happen?
2. How will this group connect and interface - internally and externally?
3. Communicate your message?
4. Fayetteville Forward 2010 - April 17, 2010
Bliss Browne has been scheduled to return for this event.
FFEAC will act as Steering Committee for the event.
i. What do you want as the FFEAC from the event?
ii. How can the event benefit your group?
The FFEAC efforts are setting a national model or pilot for economic and community development.
Sustainable transformation only happens and is constructed in those places where citizens choose to
come together to produce a desired future. The FFEAC is facilitating this transformation.
Book recommendation and quotes used during the December meeting: "Community: The Structure of
Belonging" by Peter Block
Our communities are separated into silos; they are a collection of institutions and programs operating
near one another but not overlapping or touching. It is this dividedness that makes it so difficult to create
a more positive or alternative future... the work is to overcome this fragmentation (p2).
People will be accountable and committed to what they have a hand in creating (p24).
Sustainable changes in a community occur locally on a small scale, happen slowly, and are initiated at a
grassroots level (p26).
Many citizens get engaged in a community only when they are angry. If we keep engaging citizens in this
traditional way, then no amount of involvement will make a difference (p41).
Think beyond traditional conversations and standard individual transformation:
• From conversations about problems to ones of possibility
• From conversations about fear and fault to ones of gifts, generosity, and abundance
• From a bet on law and oversight to a preference for building the social fabric and choosing
accountability
• From seeing the corporation and systems as central to seeing associational life as central
• From a focus on leaders to a focus on citizens (p54)
