HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
A regular meeting of the Fayetteville Historic District Commission was held on February
21, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 326 in the City Administration Building at 113 W.
Mountain Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Motion:
Commissioner Myers made a motion to approve. Commissioner Wallack seconded the
motion.
Upon roll call the motion passed with a vote of 7-0-0.

Presentation:
Alison Jumper, Park Planner, gave a presentation on the new disc golf course in Walker
Park.
The commission asked if the disc golf course would impact the Waxhaws home site or
the Waxhaws memorial.
Jumper responded that, no, it would not impact either, and she showed on an aerial
photo where the disc golf course would be located.
Announcements:
Commissioner Hogan discussed that he is ready to submit the application to the
National Register for the Oak Cemetery.
New Business:
Review and Recommendation of HDC Preservation Awards:
Andrew Garner, Senior Planner, reviewed the application materials that were submitted
for the 2013 Preservation Awards and discussed that no complete applications were
submitted. City staff cannot recommend any awards for this year.
Commissioner Lolley discussed that there are a variety of ways to do the awards and to
give recognition.
Motion:
Commissioner Lolley made a motion to give awards to all of the projects that were
nominated with the following awards as follows:
Best Practices Award:
• Mock-Fulbright House Restoration (5 Mount Nord)
• Arsaga's Adaptive Re -use (548 W. Dickson)
The Mayor's Award for Outstanding Service in Historic Preservation:
• "Up Among the Hills" movie
• History Minute Video Series
• Project Fayetteville Digital Image Archive (Fayetteville Public Library)
Preservation Award Honorable Mention:
• Starbucks coffee shop (2117 Martin Luther King Boulevard) historical photos

Commissioner Myres seconded the motion. Upon roll call the motion passed with a
vote of 7-0-0.
The commission discussed that they would like the mayor to read a proclamation
designating May as preservation month and to present the preservation awards.
ProiectIdeas:
Commissioner Coover discussed that the commission should not forget to meet with the
Fayetteville Forward Historic preservation group.
Commissioner Wallack discussed as her parting words not to forget more `modern
buildings for preservation such as the Hantz and Durst residences on Fairview.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7: 00 PM.
