A regular meeting of the Fayetteville Historic District Commission was held on April 14,
2011 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 326 in the City Administration Building at 113 W. Mountain
Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Lolley at 5:46
p.m.
L Approval of the February 17, 2011 and March 10, 2011 meeting minutes
Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 17,
2011 meeting. Commissioner Dowling seconded the motion. Upon role call the
motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0.
Commissioner Dowling made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 10,
2011 meeting. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. Upon role call the
motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0.
II. Announcements
Dara Sanders, Current Planner, announced that Mayor Jordan has directed staff to
work with the Historic District to pursue listing the City Administration Building on
the National Register of Historic Places and that the Arkansas Preservation
Conference is scheduled for May 5 - 7.
III. Old Business
National Preservation and Arkansas Heritage Month 2011
Dara Sanders, Current Planner, discussed the status of the awards program, reviewed
the timeline established at the March meeting and presented the proposed nomination
packet.
Commissioner Goodstein-Murphree discussed the timeline and requested that it be
revised to include a special meeting after the Selection Committee meeting to ratify
their award recipient recommendation.
Commissioner Goodstein-Murphree made a motion to revise the date of the special
meeting to May 17th. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. Upon role call the
motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0.
Commissioners reviewed the proposed nomination packet and made minor revisions.
Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve the nomination packet subject to
revisions. Commissioner Goodstein-Murphree seconded the motion. Upon role
call the motion passed with a vote of 4-0-0.
Sanders requested that the Commission consider naming the fifth award category
"The Mayor's Award for Outstanding Service in Historic Preservation".

Commissioner Goodstein-Murphree stated that the City is fortunate to have a
mayor that supports preservation and finds that naming the award for him legitimizes
his support.
Commissioner Dowling made a motion to approve the award title as proposed.
Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. Upon role call the motion passed with
a vote of 4-0-0.
